Formation and promotion of community-owned organizations of smallholder farmers/ marginalized communities/ Self Help Group (SHG) women is a major focus area of SDS to build sustainable community organizations at the grassroots. Collaborating closely with both government and non-government entities, SDS supports the formation, development and capacity building of community groups such as Cluster Level Federations (CLFs) and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs).

These collectives enable economies of scale, stronger bargaining power, and inclusive access to value chains.
SDS conducts ToTs and enterprise development trainings on financial management, governance, market linkages, and value-chain management—enabling leaders to cascade knowledge across their communities.
Hands-on modules support climate-resilient agriculture, pest and risk management, and value-added processing to boost productivity and resilience.
Focused coaching on transparent record-keeping, statutory compliance, and accountable decision-making helps organizations operate as sustainable enterprises.
